Bradley Lokitz: User Program Director, Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences

Bio

Brad Lokitz is a the User Program Director and a senior technical staff member of the Macromolecular Nanomaterials group at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Brad obtained his B. S. degree in Chemistry from Millsaps College and his Ph. D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi under the direction of Dr. Charles McCormick. While obtaining his doctorate, he synthesized amphiphilic block copolymers capable of assembling into micelles and vesicles. He then spent two years as a post-doctoral researcher at the Spallation Neutron Source working with Dr. John Ankner and Professor Mike Kilbey to study the structure of polymer thin films using neutron reflectometry. In 2010 he joined the Macromolecular Nanomaterials Group at the CNMS where he enjoys working with users while pursuing his own research centered around advanced polymer synthesis and characterization techniques with an emphasis on using neutrons to examine structure-property relationships in reactive polymer thin films and multi-block copolymers.
